Open Innovation Call in Singapore for proposals to make buildings more climate-resilient and resource-efficient

Expose your solution for more climate-friendly buildings for one of Asia’s biggest developers

The buildings and construction sector consumes 36% of the world's energy and accounts for more than one-third of annual carbon emissions. We must rethink the way we design, build and operate our buildings to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, combatting climate change and ensuring the well-being of building occupants and users. We need action to develop ground-breaking solutions for waste reduction, energy and water efficiency improvements, and healthy and safe buildings.

Do you want to pave the way for sustainability in the built environment?

From 10 November 2020 to 17 February 2021, CapitaLand has launched the CapitaLand Sustainability X Challenge (CSXC) in Singapore, calling for proposals across the globe to make buildings more climate-resilient and resource-efficient. Two winners will each stand a chance to secure up to S$50,000 to kickstart a viable pilot, test and implement innovations with CapitaLand.

The Challenge

Participants can join the CSXC by submitting their proposed innovation to address any of the seven challenge statements developed by CapitaLand to meet its global business needs. The seven statements are categorised under the following four themes:

Theme 1: Low carbon transition
Theme 2: Water conservation and resilience
Theme 3: Waste management and the circular economy
Theme 4: Healthy and Safe Buildings

See alle the challenge statement details here.

To submit their innovations, participants can indicate their interest online via the registration form on the CSXC website. Once the registered project is assessed to have met the challenge criteria, participants will receive the full submission form for participation. Submissions will close on 17 February 2021, 2359h Singapore Time (GMT +8), i.e., 16:59, CET (Central European Time).

Six finalists will be shortlisted by 31 March 2021. At the finale to be held in May 2021, finalists will need to present a seven-minute pitch to the judging panel and answer the judges’ questions in a seven-minute Question & Answer session. Winners will be eventually determined by the judging panel comprising CapitaLand’s senior management team as well as external partners and experts.
