Announcement of the Winner: NYC-CPH Dual Urban Water Vision Challenge

This Open Innovation Call is closed. The open innovation call was designed as a co-creation process were Danish and German companies presented solutions to Munich’s challenges with heavy traffic and polluted air as well as the desire to make the city more liveable in a sustainable way. The co-creation workshop for the call was held on July 15, 2021 in Munich.
The call presented the participating Danish companies with a series of concrete outcomes. The Danish company Fokdal Springvand got the opportunity to present their fountains to possible stakeholders and partners in Munich. Another Danish company, Photocat, impressed the Municipality of Munich with their sustainable product and moved on to a further dialogue on collaboration. SMALLRevolution managed to sign an agreement with a German distributor and presented their product directly to city planners in Munich.
As around three-quarters of all German residents live in cities and this number is expected to increase in the coming decades great strain is placed on urban communities. Therefore the city of Munich is looking to drive urban developments towards liveable, sustainable, and future oriented resilient urban spaces.
The Open Innovation Call brought together Danish and German technologies to boost the exchange of new ideas and accelerate synergies to provide sustainable solutions. The solutions sought to combined liveability with great design engineering and a touch of Danish “hygge.
The event connected and exposed the participating companies to stakeholders in Munich and Bayern within urban innovation and with a strong sustainable development agenda. The participants tested their potential for co-creation, while expanding their network with Danish and German organizations.
Participation required companies to be ready for internationalisation, having the capability and will to enter collaborations across borders and market-ready solutions or products as well as preparing a pitch to present their solution(s).
Access Cities supported the participating companies with their preparation for internalisation and their pitch.
The workshop is part of a series of events focused on sustainable urban development in Denmark and Germany with market visit opportunities planned for fall 2021 in Munich.
