Challenge Description: | Nordic and Baltic technology start-ups are being invited to apply to a new challenge competition, aimed at identifying innovative digital solutions to urban challenges that have become more urgent because of the COVID-19 crisis. The Nordic Smart City Challenge is open to innovators developing solutions that will help to support local authorities to build the liveable and sustainable cities citizens will need now and in the future. Selected start-ups will be invited to pitch their solutions in front of a panel of experts and investors at a live online event in February. The deadline for applications is 5th February 2021. With city governments’ adjusting to the impact of COVID on citizen behaviour, a renewed focus has emerged on creating liveable environments that promote healthy living, activity, and sustainability in planning the future of cities and creating new solutions to the challenges of the cities. The Nordic Smart City Challenge is aimed at identifying digital solutions that make the best use of available data to secure this outcome. The three challenges are: Enabling a healthier city lifestyleSupporting sustainable communities and urban infrastructureReimagining transport, mobility, and flow in cities The Nordic Smart City Challenge is an initiative run by the Nordic Smart City Network and PUBLIC, supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers, inviting start-ups with brilliant new ideas to present and pitch innovative solutions that will address Nordic cross-regional urban challenges as we transition to a ‘new normal’ post COVID-19. The Nordic Smart City Challenge is part of Nordic Smart City Days, launched in collaboration between Nordic Edge and PUBLIC, which is taking place on 18th and 19th February 2021. This new event is aimed at giving Nordic urban tech start-ups the opportunity to come together, network and meet public customers and investors. The Nordic Smart City Challenge Pitch Event will take place virtually on 18th February 2021 – the first day of the Nordic Smart City Days. Selected start-ups will be invited to pitch their solution to a panel of judges who will decide on a winning start-up for each of the three challenges. |
